Melinda attended
the Columbus College of Art and design in Ohio, then enrolled in The Chicago
Academy of Art, where classes with the late Irving Shapiro influenced
her decision to pursue watercolor as her medium of choice. After art school
she worked in the commercial art field before turning her attention to
painting full time.
A year round resident of Boulder Junction, Wisconsin, she works out of
her studio in the woods. Her work has been exhibited in numerous juried
shows and has received many local, regional and National awards. Melinda
works in Watercolor and Pastels. She creates both human and animal portraits,
landscapes and underwater images featuring freshwater fish. Her work is
included in many private and corporate collections.
Melinda accepts commission work and her paintings are also featured at
The Pine Tree gallery in Ironwood, Michigan and at Moondeer & Friends
gallery in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin. Melinda is married to Dave Schnell,
a Boulder Junction Fishing Guide and antique wood boat restorer and has
two Newfoundland dogs; Lily and Charles.
